The Steampunk Bible, Gail Is Away, Marmite, and More

I’m on a road trip up the Pacific North Coast for the next week and a half, and then it is Thanksgiving. I’m not certain how frequently I will be online. Apologies, Gentle Reader, I’m certain you know how the Holliday Season goes. Tra la!

It’s been a long month my dears and this one is looking even longer. Up coming through the end of the year, you can expect convention and travel reports, outfit planning, notes from panels, photos from the Dickens Fair, and possibly one Very Big Announcement. I promise more character studies and Victoriana in the future, probably quite a lot as I dive into writing and researching the next book. These things come in waves for us writers, rather like advances. This last month has been the final stages wave of writing, mostly bitterness and ennui. It’s my process. Next month = the chipper optimism of a New Project!

(Gifts from my English visitors. They know me well.)

Breaking news, Recorded Books has announced release dates for Changeless (Dec. 04, 2010) and Blameless (Mar 10, 2011).

Here is a first glimpse at the lovely upcoming coffee table book, The Steampunk Bible. There may or may not be an awesome photo of self taken by the lovely Mr. J. Daniel Sawyer.

The Parasol Protectorate cover winner has been announced. Who knew a Parasol Protectorate Stars Wars cross over might be popular? Should I put my writing cap on? Spoof alert!

PNR Bookworm says, “REALLY enjoyed this book. It has a great plot and is different than what is main stream now. The characters, especially Alexia, are a hoot!”
SPOILER ALERT! Larissa’s series review, “I am a card carrying Gail Carriger fan now and I cannot wait for what she will come up with next and for Alexia and Conall’s next adventures!”
Even bigger SPOILER ALERT! Really, DON’T READ THE BLURB ON AMAZON if you haven’t read the other books first. My Reader’s Block says, “Just finished Blameless the third in the Alexia Tarabotti series by Gali Carriger. This one has it all…drunken werewolves, Templars, a ride in an ornithopter, a reckless escape across the Alps, homicidal ladybugs, and a whole lot more. What more could you want?”

My boyfriend was really excited to get The Steampunk Bible because he is actually IN it!! He flipped through the book excitedly only to find he was mis-credited in a photo. The giant picture on page 136-137 labels him as Jesse Nobles, who is the photographer. It should read Captain Anthony LaGrange. The black man in that photo is Captain Anthony LaGrange. He is also on page 135. We run a local steampunk group here in Columbus, Ohio: The Airship Archon. Just thought people might want to know. It may get corrected on future versions.
