Thank you all for participating in my poll, Gentle Readers. The results were really fascinating for me. For example, I had no idea you would be interested in my Victorian research, I had phased that aspect mostly out because the entries got so few comments in the past. Just goes to show, comments do not necessarily interest make.
You will see a few changes as a result of the poll, so I hope you made your desires known. As one reader suggested, I will be attempting to do entries that are shorter and dedicated to only one topic at a time, although the daily dose will remain. (I hope you guys like that. I didn’t ask about it. Perhaps I should do another poll?)
I’ll start trying to keep the minutia of industry, signings, foreign rights, and so forth as brief as possible or absent. This is your official reminder that such information is always on my website (book editions and Gail appearances), and sometimes disseminated through the Parasol Protectorate Facebook group and on Twitter (@gailcarriger). A bit may still appear on this blog as it is, for me, a means of keeping a record of such things. However, it will probably end up below the daily dose. Honestly, this is a good thing. I struggle sometimes to be honest with you, my dear Gentle Readers, and yet not step on territory verboten as a profession writer with Contracts in Play.
As to guest blogs and reviews, these are already pretty scarce, as I rarely have time to read or watch movies anymore, and I’m careful to vet anyone who wants to blog here to ensure they meet your standards. So far, I have only one guest blog scheduled for 2011. Convention reports are a bit of a pain, I never remember to take photos, and I’m always so busy it’s hard to stay up each night to write the occurrences down. So limiting them is also good, although again, for record purposes, you may get a little.
I’m shocked that you want social commentary and rants from the likes of me. I always figured that was what everyone did with their blog and you were probably tired of reading such things. I should warn you, however, that such rants are often fashion related (Why still with the uggs? Why?). Also, my life is generally quite dull. I am, after all, only a writer. I spend most of my days staring at a computer screen willing the words to appear one after another. It’s very tedious.
I’m glad most of you don’t mind the prevalence of octopuses, hedgehogs, ladybugs, and tea. I am rather an addict and would find it difficult to let them go.
So that’s it then, viva 2011, let us see what I can come up with next!
Timeless: Clomp, clomp, comp.
Secret Project F: We’re waiting. We’re waiting.
BIG FAT SPOILER ALERT! Really, DON’T READ THE BLURB ON AMAZON if you haven’t read the other books first!
The Brazilian Bookworm is won over by Soulless. I hope she’d be happy to know that the Portuguese language rights have sold and that it should be out this year.
