Happy Wednesday, Gentle Reader! I haven’t done simply a journal-style blog post for a very long time, so that is what you are getting today. In the poll I ran a while ago some of you kindly expressed interest in hearing about my everyday activities, which I find surprising, but what ho! (My dears, the life as a writer is far from glamorous.)
I have been writing. A lot. Sometimes at my desk, sometimes on the bed, sometimes in a cafe, and sometimes on my head . . . oh wait. I’ve been answering emails about upcoming events and planning my trip to New Orleans and Baton Rouge at the end of the month for ALA & book signing. (It has me thinking a great deal about how much I love libraries and librarians. Perhaps a future blog post?) I’ve had several interviews both in blog from and for podcasts. I’ve been enjoying the heck out of the contest entries, so fun!I’ve been working hard on the first Finishing School book ~ still no release date ~ which is due in to my new editor at the end of month. I managed a very rough draft which is now percolating in the back of my head. I have a print out and three colored pens ready to go ~ it’s my process. Vivisection ahead!
The weather has turned beautiful. We had rain into June here in Northern California, which never in my memory has happened before, and felt suspiciously British. But now it appears to be Officially Summer. In honor of the sun I’ve done some dyeing and took out the motorcycle. I know, some people go to the beach or spring clean, I try to dye blouses for steampunk outfits with tea. We all have our little foibles.
Some people around the US are reporting that they have already gotten copies of Heartless. I’m afraid I don’t know why them and why early, but there it is. Possibly it has to do with distance from distribution centers?
Don’t forget the Heartless contest ends tomorrow at midnight!
