Sumage Solution: All Your Questions Answered, Print Editions & Events!

Hello my darling Gentle Reader,

Here (for my linking ease and your general education) are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions I’ve been getting about my new book, The Sumage Solution: San Andreas Shifters #1.

Will there be a print edition?

Yes. But if one is independently publishing a book (which I am with this novel) it is really difficult to get a print edition up for preorder. The best I can do is try to time the release myself and activate it for print in time to:

  1. Link up to the ebook.
  2. Become available to print on demand on the right day.

Because print is expensive to produce and based partly on weight (shipping) and this is a full length novel, the best I’ll be able to offer it for is $15.99 (USA). (Vendors may offer discounts, though. I’ve no control over that.)

2 Print-Related Questions:

I REALLY want to pre-order a print edition of the Sumage Solution, can I? And/or I want one signed/personalized by Gail.

Borderlands Books has got you covered. Call them toll-free at 888 893-4008 or email [email protected]

But What-Up With Amazon?

Some have noticed a $17 print edition up for “sale” of Sumage Solution on Amazon, that is a 3rd party scam. I mean you *can* order it if you must, but first you will see significantly delayed shipping at checkout, then you will get a further delay notification in early July (because it really isn’t available) and then you will end up paying more for the book and it’s not coming from me. Also I’m not getting credit for those sales numbers. This relates to Amazon’s Buy Box Change. No, there is nothing illegal about this. It does not contradict Amazon’s TOS and there is nothing I can do about it.

Will there be an audiobook?

Yes. But that is a slower process. Producer Bryan is working on the production edits and fine-tuning right now.

Making a print edition happen is a matter of a few additional (time consuming) steps beyond the ebook, but audio is a ton more steps and has an elaborate QA process on Amazon’s end. (For example I had valid files for Poison or Protect but it still took almost 2 months to upload.) Even if I manage to get the files up and loaded a few weeks ahead of Sumage Solution’s release date of July 18 it is really difficult to:

  1. Get approval in time.
  2. Get the two linked together in time.

I really am trying with this one, but it rides so much on other people: narrator, producer, ACX QA team, that I really can’t make any promises, and likely never will be able to with Audio.

Is this the start of a series?

Yes. Right now I have three books in mind but there could be many many more.

Will you write more?

It depends on if this one sells well enough.

This is my livelihood, after all, if people don’t buy it, I can’t afford to write it. However, each book in the San Andreas Shifter series is entirely stand alone with an HEA. I promise, no cliff hangers.

That said, I am very passionate about these characters so I might just write more regardless – if I have the time window.

Will you be having any launch events?

Yes. I’ll be at Borderlands in San Francisco the weekend before the book is officially on sale. That’s…

Early To Borderlands Gets The Book Party

Call ahead to reserve a signed copy (888-893-4008, yes they’ll ship, and yes I’ll inscribe). The book will be available to buy (at this event ONLY) three days BEFORE official release.

Then I will be at San Diego ComicCon the whole week after that.

Mysterious Galaxy will have the book there (and others). I’ll be doing signings and panels and such (I’ll post my schedule here on the blog before I leave, and on Twitter as the event progresses). If you can’t find me, I’ll most likely be hanging out with the Mysterious Galaxy peeps, because I love them, so check that booth.

Mysterious Galaxy will also be happy to take orders for signed editions. I will be happy to inscribe if you would like and you can pick up later at the store, or they too will ship. You’ll need to call or email them to put your order in ahead of time, and tell them what you want inscribed, if anything.

Book News:

Kirkus Reviews says of Etiquette & Espionage:

“This genre-blender will introduce fans of Ally Carter’s Gallagher Girls and Jennifer Lynn Barnes’ The Squad to a world of mechanical maids and flying machines, while bringing a spy-school romp to readers of the weightier worlds of Cassandra Clare and Scott Westerfeld. It’s higher on silliness and lower on romance than we have come to expect for this age range, but that just leaves more room for exploding wicker chickens.”

Umm…mildly unrelated, but one believes that one has solved the…slight mystery surrounding metamorphosis- it is a question solely of mass, or rather of the quantity of mass and skin that allows the aetheric connection that can be…adjusted in the process. Hence the low number of females and danger with those too young (too little mass for viability).

And one is neither a scientist or a detective; one simply has a clever and rather twisty mind (One has memorised Discworld, and is proud to have a mind as twisty as a corkscrew, as it allows one to winkle things out better!)
