ALERT! This is why there may be a gap in print production (AKA Amazon closes Createspace & 2nd editions are coming!)

Hello Gentle Reader!

This is your official warning that with Amazon closing Createspace, my indie print books may be in limbo for a bit.

If you specifically like these print editions best, then you should buy now.

Print Books Possibly Effected

I don’t know how long, or honestly if there will be issues. I don’t know which books might be effected, or none, or all. I haven’t started the transfer or updates yet because DEADLINES. But I do know it won’t be simple or easy, because this is Amazon and nothing is ever simple or easy with them.

However there are a few things I can tell you…

What’s Changing Visually?

Not a whole lot. I’ll hope to be sprucing up covers & fixing typos and some internal layouts for official second editions. Ingram will continue to distribute the first editions.

For the covers, I’ll be making sure the spines match and fixing some cover spacing arrangement and darkness issues. Same thing with the internal layouts and text, I hope. Just basically giving them all a nice clean update. No actual art or photos will change.

Even minor, it’s costly and time consuming so that’s why there may be a bit of a hiatus.

Overseas?

You may not be able to get the PRINT book from Amazon.

Distribution and price will be effected to some territories of Amazon overseas. So if you are anywhere outside the USA and you buy my print books via Amazon you should buy them now.

REALLY, DO IT NOW.

Borderlands is always there for you, but if you insist on Amazon, I can not make any promises going forward.

I currently have no idea which overseas territories will be impacted. So you can panic if you like but I’ve given you the solution. Buy the print right now, before you may not be able to for a while, if ever.

Okay, yeah, doomy.

But put yourself in my shoes. I’m late on 3 projects at this juncture and I have to stop (YET AGAIN) to take DAYS to do this re-upload transfer mumbo jumbo. Amazon will always find a way to screw with authors. It’s their specialty. And yeah, I’m not my usual bubbly self about this. Because, frankly, arse-nozzle!

Yours in mildly panicked overhaul mode,

Miss Gail

With the closure of CreateSpace it may not be available via Amazon, but you should be able to get it elsewhere. Including, if you can’t find it online, via Borderlands Books in San Francisco. They were willing to ship internationally.

Oh man! I ~love~ what that pink hat does for your face in the Infusion of Cute photo!! The slightly wider brim suits you so well. I like it so much better than your usual skinny turban. Nicely done!

Checked Create Space. While they have been leaning heavily on the KDP, there is no notice in MY boxes that they are closing. I’m hoping the transfer of accounts is seamless as I’ve got a duology about to be sent in for that final “print” option. I’m doing the last sweep this week.
AND – living 200 miles from San Francisco makes it possible to plan for a stop to see you at Borderlands… Assuming they ever update their calendar to agree with yours, that is.
I guess you live a week in advance of the rest of us. Rarified air there, I’m sure.
I do hope the smoke in San Jose didn’t impact you. I had a friend there who complained of having a constant asthma attack.
Hopefully, I’ll see you in three week!

They are rolling the closure out to authors in stages, so people don’t panic and overload the KDP Print system.

Article from the Digital Reader: https://the-digital-reader.com/2018/08/27/amazon-is-merging-createspace-into-kdp-print/amp/
Article from Liz on how her transfer went: http://elizabethspanncraig.com/uncategorized/moving-from-createspace-to-kdp-print/

Reports of any “seamless” transfers are to be taken with a grain of salt. The author forums are blowing up with issues.
